Trish Doller's idyllic romance Off the Map proves sometimes a wrong turn can lead to the exact right destination. On the road to love, you don't need a GPS...Carla Black’s life motto is “here for a good time, not for a long time.” She’s been traveling the world on her own in her vintage Jeep Wrangler for nearly a decade, stopping only long enough to replenish her adventure fund. She doesn’t do love and she doesn’t ever go home.Eamon Sullivan is a modern-day cartographer who creates digital maps. His work helps people find their way, but he’s the one who’s lost his sense of direction. He’s unhappy at work, recently dumped, and his one big dream is stalled out—literally.Fate throws them together when Carla arrives in Dublin for her best friend’s wedding and Eamon is tasked with picking her up from the airport. But what should be a simple drive across Ireland quickly becomes complicated with chemistry-filled detours, unexpected feelings, and a chance at love - if only they choose it.

"This was amazing!! I really want to give it 5 stars but I’m practicing discernment this year, and just because I see myself represented so lovingly in a book doesn’t mean it gets an automatic 5 stars. But who knows, I may decide at the end of the year it deserves it!

I picked this up because 1) I loved Float Plan and 2) it’s set in Ireland and I love to read books set in Ireland on St Patty’s Day. I can’t resist a good theme! But this was much more than a cutesy romance. It tackled some big themes in really believable (ok mostly believable) ways, and while I’ll always love a good steamy romance, I also appreciate a heartfelt journey. I was sobbing on a plane by the end of this, and I have no regrets.

I’ve been very moved by these books and I can’t wait to see where the author takes us next! I will say between the Caribbean tour in her first book and the Irish road trip in this my wanderlust is worse than ever, but I can’t resist good travel romances. Apparently that’s my new favorite genre!"

"I wanted to like it but much like the last two books, the ending is mildly infuriating. It's been well-established that Carla LIKES her job. She likes being a bartender, just may not at the exact place she works. <spoiler>Then you introduce the Sullivan sister who has been destined to run the family bar in Ireland instead of having her own career. And instead of having Carla eventually realize that she could do the job I've heard for two books that she loves (meanwhile relieving the burden placed on Eamon's sister), Carla decides to go find some random Park Service career?! And the sister is left languishing in Ireland at the bar.</spoiler> It feels cruel. Why would you leave that string hanging? She's married so it's probably not a hook for another book. Unless the author is about to blow up her marriage to add another "honorary Beck sister"."
"I received this book in a Goodreads Giveaway.

My only regret is that I wasn’t able to get to it sooner! I absolutely loved this book! It filled me with hope, happiness, and wanderlust. I want buy a Jeep, load up my 2 dogs, and just GO! I am overwhelmed by my reactions to this story, and I’m not sure why they are so strong. I approached this like I would any other romance, but it just hit so differently! The relationships, the destinations, the comedy, the characters, the spicy bits… all of it is perfect. *chefs kiss* Excuse me while I go binge everything else Trish Doller has written."

"I listened to this book on audio which can color my opinions based on the narrator’s artist choices.

Pros:

The narrator was great. Adding in a bit of an accent and changing up slightly for different characters was masterfully done.

Cons:

I loathe the main female character. She is selfish, irresponsible and careless. She made promises to her best friend to be there for the wedding and then she made the choice to go do other things and be late. She did this taking the best man with her. That really can disrupt a wedding and add unnecessary stress to the families. When they finally get back on track and call and promise they’ll be there they stop to go to a festival? This is so unacceptable.

The overall carefree nothing matters lifestyle is glorified here. You’re not seeing the downfalls of running out of money, getting sick/hurt and having no one and nothing to help. You’re not seeing the future where these people have to work basically until death because they have no savings…"
