After the storm of the century rips apart New Orleans, sixteen-year-old Adele Le Moyne and her father are among the first to return. Adele wants nothing more than to resume her normal life, but with the silent city resembling a war zone, a parish-wide curfew, and mysterious new faces lurking in the abandoned French Quarter, normal needs a new definition. Strange events--even for New Orleans--lead Adele to an attic that has been sealed for three hundred years. The chaos she accidentally unleashes threatens not only her but also everyone she knows. Caught in a hurricane of myths and monsters, Adele must untangle a web of magic that weaves the climbing murder rate back to her own ancestors. But who can you trust in a city where everyone has secrets and keeping them can mean life or death? Unless...you're immortal. Revised edition: This edition of The Casquette Girls includes editorial revisions.

"I really enjoyed the book and wish there was some way to get the rest of the books in this series.I finally got my heads on the next two in the series.I reread this one to help me remember everything."

"I liked the idea of the coven versus the vampires, the way the characters wrestle with having survived a natural disaster is really well handled, and you can feel the love for New Orleans flowing from this book, but in the end, it just didn't entirely work for me.

I was expecting more of a girl-group sort of book from the blurb, and this definitely isn't that. The love triangle is incredibly stupid (it's never really clear what Adele sees in either dude aside from how hot they are), most of the characters are pretty thinly drawn, the phonetically written accents verge on racist parody at points... Also, it really felt like too much of the book was build-up. Once things went nuts a lot happened but there were some pretty long periods of time where nothing really happened or previous points were repeated."
