Meghan Quinn
USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn brings more humor and heart with the third novel of her Getting Lucky series: a story about breaking curses and laying your heart on the line. What happens when your secret crush isn't so secret anymore? I've had feelings for Eve Roberts for as long as I can remember, but because she also happens to be the twin sister of my best friend, Eric, I've never acted on my feelings and long ago resigned myself to keeping my crush under wraps. But after a terrible falling-out with Eric involving a failed restaurant venture and plenty of blame on both sides, I'm back in Port Snow without my best friend and without any direction. But can you guess who's here? Eve. And my attraction to her is as strong as ever. As old feelings rush back, Eve and I find ourselves pulled together, whether we like it or not. Lines are crossed, secrets are kept, and we soon discover that the difference between love and friendship may not be so black and white, after all. Everyone wants that secret crush to love them back...but will I be ready when she does?

"If white male privilege turns you on this book is perfect for you

Let me be very clear. I hated everything about this book. Most of it enraged me and one scene disturbed me. The message the author sends to women in this book is truly disgusting. That message being that it doesn't matter if the man you're with doesn't respect you. It doesn't matter if he takes out all his frustrations on you. It doesn't matter if he gets upset when you try to have a conversation with him that doesn't revolve around sex. It doesn't matter if you tell him no or to stop and he keeps going. You stand by him and forgive him because eventually he may come around and actually treat you like a real person. Reid absolutely walks all over Eve in this book and she is perfectly fine with it. There is nothing he can do that is crossing the line to her. The scene in the coffee shop where he puts his hand down her pants, she literally begs him to stop, but he refuses only to go further and further down her pants....how could you even write this disgusting scene let alone try to pass it off as flirty and playful. People are watching while he does this. While he puts Eve on display. I've had friends who were raped or sexually assaulted and it isn't playful and fun. This author should be ashamed of herself for trying to romanticize and normalize this controlling, abusive behavior. It doesn't matter if you're dating, if a woman says stop, STOP!!

Beyond that disgusting behavior the author is desperate for us to not forget about Reid's package. So much time is spent going on and on about his size. All he talks about is sex. Eve has to bribe him with sex to even get him to speak with her. Entitlement and privilege drip off of Reid. He doesn't have to pay a price for any of his behavior or choice. Lose a restaurant because of his incompetence? It's okay because daddy hands him a new one. Treat your girl like an afterthought multiple times and ultimately choose your job over her? No problem. Just a couple of words and bare minimum in effort and she is right back at worshipping his crotch. I think this author played out some kind of fantasy she has about what it is to be a guy with this book. Throw in Eric who also thinks he's the gatekeeper of his sister's ****** and this book is complete with men who have no respect for her.

In the end the book is just awful. Pure sex, no romance. A complete disrespect of the female lead. A leading man who wallows in self pity but is also arrogant beyond belief. An ending so awful I almost didn't think it was real. If you value original thought or actual romance, pass on this garbage."
