"<strong>Not for me</strong><br/><br/>A lot of people will love this story. I'm just not one of them. The whole martyr trope has never worked for me. Men wallowing in self pity and pushing the woman they love away because they deserve better is just weak. I did like the 1st half of the story. The author laid the foundation for what could have been an above average 2nd chance romance. Unfortunately, once they go to the bar everything goes downhill. Gabe becomes an absolute garbage character at this point. A woman he had a one night stand comes up to him and he goes out of his way to humiliate her and to make sure she walks away feeling terrible about herself. Then he freaks out and attacks a man who makes a lewd comment about Olivia. What this author doesn't realize is that the way Gabe treated that woman was equally as demeaning as the comment about Liv. All the problems Liv and Gabe encounter in this book are a direct result of Gabe's jealousy and inability to control his temper. At another point he attacks her ex and **** shames Liv because she *checks notes* slept with one guy in the 7 years they were apart. The 2nd half of the book is just repeated sexual encounters, ridiculous jealousy and melodramatic moments of them declaring their love. Also, the author only knows 1 way to describe lips...cupid's bow. Ultimately I would recommend you find something with an actual likeable leading man to read."
