The day the blizzard started, no one knew that it was going to keep snowing for a week. That for those in its path, it would become not just a matter of keeping warm, but of staying alive. . . .Scotty and his friends Pete and Jason are among the last seven kids at their high school waiting to get picked up that day, and they soon realize that no one is coming for them. Still, it doesn't seem so bad to spend the night at school, especially when distractingly hot Krista and Julie are sleeping just down the hall. But then the power goes out, then the heat. The pipes freeze, and the roof shudders. As the days add up, the snow piles higher, and the empty halls grow colder and darker, the mounting pressure forces a devastating decision. . . .Michael Northrop is the New York Times bestselling author of TombQuest, an epic book and game adventure series featuring the magic of ancient Egypt. He is also the author of Trapped, an Indie Next List Selection, and Plunked, a New York Public Library best book of the year and an NPR Backseat Book Club selection. "I would echo many comments already posted, especially about the abrupt ending (I was checking the back to see if maybe some final pages had been removed!). I enjoyed the voice of the narrator, Scott, although the incessant teen speak (every 5th word was "like') grew irritating. As an adult it was amusing to note that cell pone deprivation was one of the major sufferings these teens endured!"
"I started it and read the 1st chapter and couldn’t not continue. It just wasn’t for me, I really wanted to like it. Also this book is for younger readers and I am currently in college. <br/>"

"Seven kids, trapped in a high school in the middle of nowhere in the worst blizzard on record. Scotty Weems, the narrator of the story, is trapped in the school with his two best friends Pete and Jason. Jason wanted to stay after school to work on a project for industrial arts so Scotty and Pete decide to to stay after and help. Little did they know that there would be so much snow falling that life as they knew it would come to a complete halt. On their own with little or no heat, very little warm clothing and the weight of 11 feet of snow or more piling on a century old of their school bodes ill for their chances of survival. In an effort to find help, one of kids leaves the school with disastrous results and another leaves to find the help they desperately need. This was a very unique but modern survival story with the right amount of reality to the day-to-day drama of being a regular teenager. If you liked Hatchet by Gary Paulsen or other survival type stories, this is a great read!"
