"What I Liked:
1. Gemma - I thought it was interesting to see a career choice in fashion but the best part about Gemma was her “why” around styling. I appreciated that it was personal for her and that she was more interested in helping her clients feel confident and tailor their look to their wants/needs. I also like that this was emphasized through her volunteering. I think the stereotype in media about fashion is that it’s a shallow industry and people only care about designer things and aren’t smart and Gemma goes against all of these stereotypes, which was really refreshing.

2. Zach - I felt that we actually got a bit more character depth out of Zach than Gemma because we learned about his ex-wife. We also can see how that previous relationship impacted him and it helped make his reaction to the bet realistic. His previous relationship also makes his actions at the beginning of the book understandable. I think a lot of people can resonate with doing things their partner didn’t like after a breakup. As the story progressed, I liked seeing him open up to Gemma and go all-in with her. He was never hesitant about introducing her to his friends or holding her hand in public, which I thought was really cute. Also the grand gesture at the end was so romantic and adorable and showed how much Zach paid attention to Gemma.

3. Martin, Julie, Brody, Zoey, & Eve - I loved that we got to see these two friend groups with our main characters. In general, both friend groups seemed nice and supportive but also not afraid to be honest when needed, which I think adds to the authenticity of the friendships. It also made me excited for Zoey and Eve’s stories and I hope we can see all of these characters again

What I Didn’t Like:
1. The ending - I wish we got to see more of Gemma with the promotion given that she wasn’t aligned with the vision that Serena had. It would have been fun to see Gemma push back a little and stand up for herself since this is something she’s so passionate about

2. Backstory - I think we got more backstory for Zach than Gemma, so there’s that. But I wish there was a little more insight into why Gemma loved fashion the way she does to help give her more depth.

Other:
I give this a 3.5/5 but since Goodreads doesn’t do half stars, I rounded down. There was nothing inherently wrong with the story. It was cute/fluffy and an easy read! Even though enemies to lovers as a trope is relatively predictable, this story wasn’t super unique and it’s likely not going to be super memorable for me where I’d feel compelled to read it again and again"
