"I checked this out from our library because, well, it’s Matthew McConaughey and I love quirky kids books.
I didn’t even open it before checking it out and read it for the first time to my 5 year old daughter at bedtime.
I had high hopes for it. I definitely expected some McConaughey-ness, but this book was almost torture to finish.
The forced rhymes. The weird, nonsensical platitudes. 30 pages of awkward oxymorons.

At best, McConaughey and anyone involved with this publishing missed the mark for a kids book. Not because of any of the confusing messaging itself, but the metaphors are way too complicated for most young children, which is the target audience of this book.

I begged my daughter to let me stop reading this about half way through because I could tell she didn’t understand anything in this book. She insisted we keep reading “one more page.” But it never got better. Just 30 pages of word salad.

The only thing keeping this from being a 1-star rating is that the illustrations were pretty solid."
