"Not my usual fare. Quick read, funny for what it is, but the end was really confusing. Needed to be a bit longer so people like me who don’t already know the story can follow the specifics. Better than most graphic novels for differentiating characters but still less clear than I’d like given the large number of characters and how similar they are in appearance and how little time we have to get to know them. I learned a bit about the end of Stalin’s life. Interesting in conjunction with reading “Putin’s Russia” last year."

"This upvote comes with a caveat. It pales in comparison to the 2018 movie that is based on this graphic novel. A rarity in that category indeed, it is crisp, intelligent and fun, but it cannot escape the age old comparison. In that regard it suffers in statement, depth and direction, as all are beyond serviceable but much smaller in scope. Read this first, then watch the movie, and not vice versa as I did. "
