In the anarchic town of Seaside, nowhere near the sea, puppeteers Judy and Punch are trying to resurrect their marionette show. The show is a hit due to Judy's superior puppeteering but Punch's driving ambition and penchant for whisky lead to an inevitable tragedy that Judy must avenge.

"Mia Wasikowska of the Alice in Wonderland films really impressed me with her acting in this film. I thought she was excellent as the long-suffering wife of the owner of a marionette show. She really shows her strength in the final act of the film. The story has a slow build, but it is excellent in showing the true character of people at their best and worst."

But for the next few hours I kept thinking back to it, and realized there was something I really liked about it. It may be one of those films you have to watch more than once to follow well, but I definitely think it is worth two watches at the very least. "
