"This movie wanted to be a thriller so badly. There were a couple of scenes when it succeeded. But overall, this thriller, about the children of a self-made man, who all gather at his estate, is eerie at best. I admit, there was one jump scare that was pretty good, but I have seen better movies using this same trope of finding horror at their family home, and fighting for survival. I give this 3 stars ⭐ for effort. The acting was fair, and there was a bit of suspense. The last act was ridiculous, when this move tried to change the plot again at the last minute. Not bad, but not great either. "
"This sort of plot is very near to being over-done...but the "we are all in an old creepy house and getting picked off one by one" genre still admittedly grabs me and sucks me right on in.. so I watch and I love it. Payton List was amazing I'm this as well as a few of the other actors and actresses."
"Adult children are summoned to their billionaire fathers’ home a day before his 75th birthday. He has sent all the help/staff away and tells them someone is going to kill him on his birthday, and they are the only ones that can protect him. Furthermore, he tells them if he doesn’t live till morning their inheritance will be given to his foundation. We know right away something sinister is going on. The set up was cool and shared some similarities with another movie called Ready or Not where there are consequences at the end of the night for not doing what you were supposed to. While that movie was fast paced and came to a shocking conclusion and paid off the promise…this one does not. After the intriguing set up the pace slows down. There are a couple of solid scares, but they mostly rely on the same old stuff. The twist wasn’t really a twist since it was expected. There were a couple ideas they introduce but ultimately, they go nowhere. Definitely had potential but they just didn’t do enough to keep me engaged after the set up.
