"I will start out by saying that this is an indie film, so some people will dislike it for that reason alone. It is presented as a documentary, so one will naturally wonder if it is really true. The answer is "no" and..."sort of". It is actually a mockumentary, meaning that it is loosely based on a real event (or events). All of that said, it was very nicely done, IMHO. If you like mysterious disappearances, you will love this movie. I am pretty sure that I know what inspired this movie due to nearly 3 decades of chasing down (allegedly) true stories of the paranormal. This one is likely based on the infamous disappearance of a man named David Lang in Long Hollow near Gallatin, TN. The field actually exists but, sadly, David Lang did not (it was extremely painful to find out that the David Lang story was false, as the embellishments made it very intriguing!). The Lang saga has been traced to a short story written by Ambrose Bierce about a nearly identical disappearance near Selma, AL. In turn, Bierce's story is based on a real disappearance in Salem, VA in the 1880s. I have read all of Bierce's short stories. Ironically, Bierce mysteriously disappeared in Mexico in 1914. In short, I found this to be a very interesting watch and will likely watch it again.
