A young maidservant named Liu Ying saves a snake on behalf of her young mistress in a chance encounter. However, the snake turns out to be a thousand year ancient dragon named Yuchu Longyan, who now wants to marry her to repay her kindness. " "Miss the Dragon" is a typical wuxia Mandarin language drama-- except the male lead is a huge white dragon. He spends much time in human form, though, so he can be with the female lead, even though this costs him.
The plot is well-written; the actors are skillful, even when interacting with a dragon that is only added later. The wig game is spot-on, and the costumes are top notch. The makeup is appropriate for fantasy, not historical, drama. The special effects for the dragon are slightly dated, but I'm glad they spent that money on the costumes and wigs instead.
